# Creating A DRep Profile

A step-by-step guide on how to create a DRep account.

## Registering as a DRep Requires You to;

* Visit the Cardano GovTool Website - <https://gov.tools/>
* From the Homepage, click Connect wallet to start using Govtool functions.

* From the dashboard, click Register on the card titled Become a DRep
* Read the notice on the roles and responsibilities of DReps in Cardano and the refundable policy on the 500 ada deposit required for DRep registration

### Roles & Responsibilities

* DReps are fundamental users who govern the Cardano network. This is an important role that requires work and dedication to fulfil.
* A DRep is expected to actively participate in governance and act as a representative of other Cardano members in governance matters. Therefore, DReps will be expected to keep abreast of Governance Actions so they can make informed and wise decisions.
* Please register as a DRep if you have time to dedicate to making Cardano a better and more well-governed place.

### DRep Profile Info

* Set up your profile by providing info for all required fields, stating your DRep Name and Optional field (about you section) with your Email, Bio and Social media contact.

### Download and store yourself

There are three (3) steps you need to follow to successfully store your information

* **Step 1** - Download the file to your computer. This file contains the DRep registration info that you entered in the registration form.
* **Step 2** - Save the file in a location that will provide you with a publicly-accessible URL (GitHub).
* **Step 3** - Copy the URL from the location above and paste it into the URL field.

### Complete Steps For Information Storage

* After downloading and saving the file on a public repository, Enter the provided URL into the field, titled “paste the URL here”

### Sign-off On The Transaction

* While the Govtool is checking your data, you will be required to confirm and sign off the transaction in your wallet&#x20;
* A pop-up confirmation message “Registration Transaction Submitted” will appear after your profile data has been verified and approved.

### DRep ID

Now you are a registered DRep, so either click “view your DRep profile details” to go through your profile details OR copy and share your DRep ID to prospective delegators.
