# Becoming A DRep

A quick step-by-step guide on how to register as a DRep on Cardano, setup wallets, store profile info, and submit registration details on Govtool.

To participate in governance activities in the ecosystem as a DRep, you must go through the neccessary registration process, which involves:

* Connecting your native Cardano wallet (with a balance of at least 501 Ada) to a governance tool - [gov.tools](https://gov.tools), [tempo.vote](https://tempo.vote), etc.
* Setting up a public DRep profile and securing a unique DRep ID
